Where we fit into automotive & transport supply

Laser Cutting Experts operates as a cutting partner to vehicle body builders, component manufacturers, transport fabricators and service providers. We do not weld chassis, fold bodies or build complete vehicles — the focus is flat parts from sheet and plate that bolt, rivet, screw or bond into your builds and repairs.

Vehicle & body builders
Flat laser-cut parts for light truck bodies, utes, trailers, service bodies and specialist vehicles. Brackets, gussets, plates, guards and infill panels supplied ready for fabrication.
Component & system suppliers
Plates, shims, mounting brackets, covers, panels and profiles that integrate with your existing components, racks, tanks, doors and accessories.
Fleet, repair & retrofit
Replacement and retrofit parts cut from drawings, samples or reverse-engineered components to keep fleets on the road and compliant with current requirements.

Materials we cut for automotive & transport

Most automotive and transport components we cut fall into four core material groups: metals, plastics, composites and rubber / gasket materials. If it runs cleanly on fiber laser, CO₂ laser, CNC router or digital knife, we can usually cut it as part of your project.

Flat sheets and plates up to 1500mm x 3000mm

Metals

  • Mild steel, stainless steel and aluminium sheet and plate within our cutting envelope.
  • Commonly used for brackets, gusset plates, battery and tank trays, mounting plates and guards.
  • Galvanised and Colorbond-type materials for body panels, covers and light-duty brackets.

Plastics & composites

  • ACM, acrylic, polycarbonate, PETG and PVC foamboard for panels, glazing, covers and signage.
  • Polypropylene and similar plastics for guards, liners, shrouds and interior panels.
  • Flat signage and graphics panels for vehicles, depots and loading docks.

Rubbers, foams & gaskets

  • Rubber and gasket sheeting for seals, dust covers and isolation pads.
  • EVA and PE foams for protective infills, racking liners and crate inserts.
  • Non-metallic wear pads, anti-rattle strips and noise reduction components.

All parts are supplied as flat profiles within agreed thicknesses and sheet sizes — no formed hoses, moulded seals or extrusions.

Typical Automotive & Transport Parts We Cut

Most of our work is in repeatable flat parts that bolt into larger builds. You bring the drawings, models or samples; we return consistent parts that fit first time on the production floor or in the workshop.

Metal Brackets, Plates & Panels

  • Mounting brackets for tanks, batteries, compressors, pumps and accessories.
  • Gusset plates, stiffeners, tie plates and joining plates for bodies and subframes.
  • Pedal, step and walkway plates, including treadplate where supplied.
  • Light, guard and number-plate backing plates and surrounds.

Plastics, Rubbers & Interior Components

  • Interior panels, trims, kick panels and covers from plastic sheet.
  • Rubber and gasket profiles for doors, hatches, access covers and enclosures.
  • Foam and rubber isolation pads between bodywork, tanks and chassis.
  • Signage and graphics panels for vehicles, depots and yards (flat panels only).

Capabilities for Automotive & Transport Cutting

Accuracy, Repeatability & Sheet Size

  • Fiber laser cutting of mild steel, stainless and aluminium for brackets, plates and guards.
  • CO₂ laser and CNC router cutting for plastics, composites and some gasket materials.
  • Digital knife cutting for rubber, foam and flexible sheet goods.
  • Sheets up to 1500mm x 3000mm, nested for best yield and logical grouping.

We can work directly from your CAD files, DXFs, dimensioned drawings or, where required, from accurately measured samples for reverse-engineered parts.

Edge Quality, Identification & Kitting

  • Clean, accurate edges appropriate for welding, bolting or sealing, depending on material.
  • Part marking and labelling options to make workshop identification and kitting easier.
  • Logical grouping of parts by vehicle type, body style, kit or build stage.
  • Packing and bundling aimed at reducing handling time once parts arrive on-site.

Our goal is to deliver flat parts in a state that lets your fabrication, body building and install teams move straight into assembly without sorting through mixed piles of components.

Why automotive & transport teams work with us

Flat-part specialists for vehicle builds

Our workflow is built around cutting flat panels and parts. That makes us efficient at producing the brackets, plates, panels, shims and seals your team needs for vehicle builds, refits and repairs.

Designed for the workshop and depot

Parts are nested and packed with fabrication and fitment in mind, not just machine efficiency. We think about how kits are used at the bench, under a truck or up on a body so your crews can move faster.

Standard parts and repeat kits

Once a part set or kit is proven, we can assign IDs and keep files ready for future runs. That helps standardise your builds and simplifies ordering across multiple depots or sites.

Flexible on material supply

Use your existing steel, aluminium, plastic and rubber suppliers and send us material for cutting, or talk to us about sourcing common sheet and plate for regular work.

Design Tips for Automotive & Transport Parts

Some small decisions in the CAD stage make a big difference to how easily parts cut, fit and assemble in the workshop or on the road.

Geometry, Tolerances & Fixings

  • Confirm hole sizes and tolerances for bolts, rivets and threaded inserts based on real hardware.
  • Use consistent hole patterns and slot widths across families of parts where possible.
  • Allow realistic clearances between panels, seals and moving parts.
  • Discuss countersinking, slotting or edge preparation requirements early if needed.

Material Choice & Standardisation

  • Match material grade and thickness to the loads, environment and corrosion exposure expected.
  • Standardise on a small set of sheet thicknesses where you can for easier stocking.
  • For plastics and composites, consider UV exposure, impact and cleaning chemicals.
  • Flag any regulatory or compliance requirements that might influence material selection.

How we work with automotive & transport customers

A straightforward process that scales from one-off repair parts through to ongoing supply for standard builds.

1. Brief & drawings
Share drawings, DXFs, 3D models, sketches or photos with dimensions, plus material specs and intended use (new build, repair, retrofit or prototype).
2. Pricing & options
We price based on material, thickness, sheet usage (up to 1500mm x 3000mm), cutting time and any kitting or labelling requirements.
3. Files & nesting
Files are checked and nested for yield and logical grouping, with opportunities flagged where small design tweaks can save material or time.
4. Cutting & QC
Parts are cut on the most suitable machine, then inspected against critical dimensions and checked into kits, bundles or pallets as agreed.
5. Delivery & repeat orders
Parts are delivered to your workshop, yard or depot. Repeat jobs are tied to stable references so re-orders are quick and consistent across sites.

FAQ

Our focus for this brand is flat-part cutting. We cut the plates, brackets, panels and other flat components you need, ready for your team to weld, bolt, rivet or assemble into the final build. That keeps our process fast and predictable for automotive and transport customers.

Our machines are set up for flat sheets up to 1500mm x 3000mm. We can help plan cutting and supply so your standard stock sizes line up with this cutting envelope as closely as possible.

We are comfortable working from both. CAD files and DXFs are ideal, but we can also reverse-engineer from accurate samples, measured sketches and clear photos with dimensions marked up.

Yes. Many customers start with one-off parts, then move towards standard kits as builds stabilise. We can help you rationalise variants, standardise materials and thicknesses, and store final files as part IDs or kit references for quick re-ordering.

Pricing takes into account material type and thickness, sheet usage, cutting time and any additional handling such as kitting, labelling and packing. Larger, repeatable runs are significantly more efficient per part than one-off urgent pieces, but we can support both where required.
