Where gasket grade cork makes sense

Gasket grade cork and cork/rubber composites are used where compliance, vibration control and sealing have to work together. We mostly cut cork gaskets for:

  • Industrial Equipment & Plant Maintenance
Gaskets for industrial machinery and equipment.
  • Pumps, Compressors & Gearboxes
    Mechanical sealing for rotating equipment.
  • Pipework, Flanges & Manways
Flange gaskets and access port sealing.
  • Electrical Switchboards & Enclosures
    Cork gaskets for electrical equipment.
  • Transformers, Power Distribution & Machinery
    Power equipment gaskets and seals.
  • Automotive & Diesel Engine Applications
Engine gaskets where cork is specified.
  • Hydraulic, Pneumatic & Lubrication Systems
    Fluid system gaskets and seals.
  • Noise & Vibration Isolation Pads
    Vibration dampening and noise control.
  • General Industrial Sealing & Cushioning
    Versatile sealing and cushioning solutions.
  • Prototype Work
    Prototyping ahead of die-cut production.

Gasket grade cork characteristics

Gasket grade cork uses fine cork granules bound with elastomeric binders, often blended with rubber to improve fuel and oil resistance. It compresses under load, recovers well and conforms to irregular surfaces. We tune cutting methods around the grade, thickness and compressibility of your cork material.

Flat cork sheets up to 3000mm x 1500mm

Material properties

  • Fine-grain gasket cork and cork/rubber composites.
  • Good compressibility and recovery for flanged joints.
  • Grades available for oils, fuels and general industrial fluids.

Best cutting methods

  • Digital knife cutting for accurate profiles and clean edges.
  • CNC cutting for thicker cork and composite sheets.
  • Carefully tuned feeds and hold-down to avoid chipping and tearing.

For gasket grade cork we avoid laser cutting – knife and CNC methods give a cleaner edge and avoid burning the binder.

Thickness & formats

  • Typical thicknesses from 1mm up to 10mm+ depending on grade.
  • Flat sheets up to 3000mm x 1500mm within our cutting envelope.
  • We can cut your supplied cork or help specify common gasket grades.

Gasket Grade Cork Cutting Capabilities

Accuracy, Nesting & Sheet Size

  • Digital knife tables tuned for cork and gasket materials.
  • Sheets up to 3000mm x 1500mm, nested for best material utilisation.
  • Fine feature sizes and tight bolt-hole patterns on suitable thicknesses.
  • Repeatability across batches and standard gasket sets.

We can work from CAD, DXF, gasket drawings or reverse-engineer from existing cork gaskets where originals are not available.

Edge Quality, Finishing & Kitting

  • Clean, consistent edges appropriate for sealing surfaces.
  • Logical grouping and labelling of gaskets and pads by kit, size or equipment ID.
  • Packing that keeps cork parts flat, dry and protected in transit.
  • Support for one-off breakdown parts through to ongoing OEM supply.

Our goal is to deliver cork parts that can go straight into assembly or maintenance with minimal sorting or re-work.

Why specify gasket grade cork with Laser Cutting Experts

Gasket and seal-focused workflow

Gasket grade cork behaves differently to rubber or metal. Our cutting workflow is tuned to keep edges clean, bolt-holes accurate and parts flat enough to seal correctly once clamped up in service.

Designed for sealing, not just shape

We understand that cork gaskets sit between machined faces and need to compress and recover properly. Hole sizes, clearances, web widths and overall geometry are considered with sealing performance in mind.

Comfortable with mixed-material assemblies

Cork gaskets are often used alongside steel flanges, plastic housings, studs and bolts. Because we also cut metal and plastic parts, we can help align patterns and tolerances across the full assembly.

Trade-friendly for fabricators & OEMs

We often work as a behind-the-scenes cutting partner for fabricators, OEMs and maintenance contractors. Consistent parts, stable references and predictable lead times are the priority.
